So nice to be back in Sydney, I'd forgotten just how much I love living in the city. Slept in a bit which was good to make up for how tired I was after the trip, and rolled out of bed around 10. I tried to update all my blogs here, but can't seem to find my camera cord which is not good at all, so I couldn't upload any of my pictures. Hopefully I just mixed it in with some of my other stuff and didn't leave it behind in Bermagui or the bus, but I've unpacked everything now and still can't find it, so I'm starting to get nervous. I'll wait a day or two to see it turns up, and then if I still can't find it I'll have to go and try to buy a new one. Ugh. I also tried to recharge my Australian phone because I'm out of my monthly credit, but it wouldn't let me do it online because my card was international. I'll have to try and find time to run to the vodofone store to update it so I can call home. This is the first day I didn't take any pictures (not even on my phone), so all the pics are from the roadtrip that people have just put up!
After making a quick salami sandwich for lunch, Sian, Veronica and I headed down towards Sydney Tower with our work. First we made a pit stop so they could stop at the Rip Curl store and pick up the free tshirt they got for attending Surf Camp, and then we looked to find a coffee shop with wifi to sit and do homework. We ended up at a Starbucks (I got outvoted, I was hoping for something local) because they were the only place nearby with free wifi. The menu was actually really different, and the cup sizes looked ginormous! Normal coffee over here is tiny (and expensive), you feel like you take one sip and your gone. While Starbucks has added a size here called "Short", which looks a little bigger than a shot glass here, which is equivalent to a normal sized coffee here, I got a Tall (equivalent to the smallest size in the States) and it felt giant! And the largest size (which Veronica got) looked impossibly big. Funny how quickly you get used to different things and they become normal, and then you see the things that are normal in the States and it looks crazy strange.
We stayed there for a lot of the afternoon, moving over to the park for a bit, too. Finally we got tired for working, so we decided to walk back to our apartment. On the way we stopped in a Vodofone store so that we could recharge our phone credit for this month. It took us a while to walk back because we'd wondered pretty far throughout the day, but it was nice just to be soaking in the city atmosphere once again. At home we just lounged around for a bit. Shea had decided she was going to make us all a special dinner on the top floor, and refused to let any of us help her no matter how hard we tried. She made a delicious East African themed dinner, with some starch thing, vegetables, a soup, and salad. Unfortunately she's not in the room right now so I can't ask her what everything was called, but it was really good and looked pretty easy to make! After dinner we forced her to sit down while we all cleaned up, even though she did it very reluctantly. Now it's time for some House Rules and homework before we head off to bed. First day back at classes tomorrow, and I can't say any of us are particularly excited to be in that dim little windowless room all day.
