Hello everyone, and happy first official day of winter! This may be the only time I'm ever going to be able to say that on June 1st, which is definitely a little strange! Unfortunately the weather seemed to be wanting to show that today is in fact the start of winter by being cold and rainy all day (though not nearly as cold as in the States, thank goodness). I had a really lazy day, as I didn't have anything in the morning and was able to sleep in. After finally dragging myself out of bed, Mariah and I went off on a trip to the grocery store to get some real food for dinner this week which meant I could finally get my long awaited Tim Tams! Woooo-hooooo! These things are my one true love, they're sooooo good. I've already accidentally inhaled half of the package, but it was so worth it. Have no fear though, mom, I promise I got real food too!
After grocery shopping, a group of us headed down to the Sydney Aquarium to take a look. Fortunately we got a group discount, bringing the price down from around $40 to more like $25. We were all a bit disappointed after walking through everything by how small and little they actually had, especially considering they are a harbour city; none of us ever would have wanted to pay full price for what we got. Nonetheless, I hadn't been to an aquarium for quite some time, and we had a great time wandering around. We got to see some sharks (so adorable, one of them was so smiley, I put a picture of him in the slideshow below), little penguins, sting rays, manta rays, lots of fish, and some abnormally large and terrifying crabs, as well as touch some starfish and other little critters. The coolest thing was definitely the shark tank, as it was one of those tunnel things, so you got to walk through as they swam around and above you. You can see my friend over there to the right, we're best buds now. His name is Bruce.
By the time we left it was raining, so we decided to eat somewhere close, so we decided to go to one of the restaurants right along the harbour, which was lovely with all the lights still going on for Vivid. We ate at a place called Nick's where I finally got to try some kangaroo! It was actually amazing, and tasted almost exactly like steak! Sorry to the kangaroo, but they sure are delicious! I highly recommend everyone try some if they ever get the chance! After dinner we got a few drinks together (I tried some honey sour thing which was actually good for once) and then we headed back home, where I couldn't help but eat some more Tim Tams. All in all a rather successful day, despite the fact I didn't really get up to much. One of our group still can't believe the rest of us actually ate kangaroo, but it really was delicious! I hope you all get the change to try it some day! Hope you all are having a lovey first day of June, especially since it's not winter there! Below is a slideshow with pictures from the day (all taken on my phone, so sorry for the quality, but my camera's acting up), and I'll talk to you all tomorrow!
