Hello everyone, welcome to my blog!
This is where I'm going to be keeping a record of my two month trip to Sydney, Australia. I'm going to be studying travel writing from both a journalism and creative writing viewpoint by traveling the coast and outback of Australia on a two week research trip with the program. I'm incredibly excited to be going and can't wait to arrive (only one week left now)!
First a little bit on the site itself: I'll be trying to update this blog at least once a day, so I can keep track of everything I do and share it with all of you, so feel free to check back as often as you like. I may try and set up some sort of subscription so that you can get emails when updates are posted (I'll get back to you on that once I figure it out). [[EDIT: Subscriptions are now up and running! If you look to the right of this post on the sidebar, you'll see a box to put your email. Enter your email and click "Subscribe" and then you'll be asked to fill out a security code before the subscription is processed. You'll then receive an email to confirm the subscription; once you do so, you'll be all set to receive updates whenever a new post is added!]] I will most likely have limited internet access on the research trip, so updates might become infrequent from June 16 to June 29, but I'll be keeping a written journal that I'll then put on here once I'm able to.
Now that I've got that out of the way, I thought I'd just put up a few of the things I'm hoping to get the chance to visit while I'm in Australia.
Some of these will be covered during the road trip, and the rest I hope to be able to make it out to on my own. I'm sure I'll find plenty more to do, and some of this may change, but all of those are Australian staples that are close enough to Sydney that I'd love to make the trip!
That's it for now, and posts will be very sporadic until my actual arrival in Sydney, so keep checking back after May 28, when I'll have finally made it to Sydney!

- Vivid Sydney: A light and musical festival that will be in mid-swing when I arrive in Sydney which looks absolutely stunning.
- Skydive over the Great Barrier Reef
- See a performance at the Sydney Opera House
- Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge
- See the Blue Mountains (especially the Three Sisters rock formation)
- Hold a koala bear
- Swim with sea lions
- See the Twelve Apostles rock formation
- The Minjin Swing in the Cairns: a multi-person swing that goes through the jungle
- Uluru Rock
