Well, the Argyle ended up being one of the single coolest places I've ever been into. We showed up, with only two minutes to spare before the $20 cover charge was enforced at 10:00, after running nearly six blocks, as the bus couldn't take us all the way down to Circular Quay due to Vivid. What a struggle, it was very stressful, but we made it in the end and that's all that matters! You walk under a stone bridge into a gorgeous stone courtyard, with a stone building behind it. When you go in, the first level is a large bar, while the upstairs is two separate clubs: one more techno, one more R&B. It was especially cool because the theme for the night was Tron, so there was a lot of cool light things going on. The DJ was looking particularly rad, completely decked out in the Tron outfit, including the helmet. Very cool. He was also standing on a glass platform that hung over the first floor, which was pretty cool. I have a picture with him in the background, but it's on my friend's camera, so I'll post it as soon as she sends it to me. EDIT:: Okay, there we are with him! Kinda hard to tell but he's in the dark, glow in the dark suit back there, and that's suspended over the first floor! We had an absolutely fantastic time, and will definitely be heading back there sometime. We were surprised at how packed it already was at 10, and still aren't sure if it was because it's a long weekend (being the Queen's birthday holiday), or if it's always like that. Regardless, would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have a good time!
Since I was out kinda late, I had a rather lazy day, sleeping in for a bit. I then debated for a bit about whether or not to go to Watson's Bay, but decided that because it takes an hour to get there from here, it was probably better to save it until tomorrow when I could get an earlier start and spend more of the day there. So instead, I got a lot of work done in the apartment, doing some more of our readings. Since I'm almost completely out of groceries, I made a trip to the grocery store to get some food for the week. I had this really cool chicken stir fry recipe I wanted to try, but couldn't for the life of me, find peanut oil anywhere in the store. Ugh! Oh well, maybe I'll be able to find it next time. I did get some chicken flavored chips I've seen everywhere around here, so you can see my tasting process and inner monologue in the slideshow for today.
We decided to have one of our communal dinners tonight, so we all helped make some spaghetti for ourselves, which we ate while we watched our lovely Australian reality television show, House Rules. We're very excited to see the first elimination tomorrow, bring on the drama! We also caught a bit of Talladega Nights which was fun. Other than that though, I really didn't get up to too much today. Very excited for tomorrow, however, as I can't wait to explore Watson's Bay, try out the famous fish and chips from Doyles, and see the lighthouse there. It's supposed to be incredibly gorgeous, so stay tuned for some pictures tomorrow!
