First of all, I'd like to apologize in advance, as I'm writing this after nearly 48 hours of no sleep, and can only currently concentrate on how much I wish I was in that bed sitting three feet away from me sleeping! Good news is, I've successfully made it to Sydney and am already having a great time!
- Just as they drive on the left side of the road, they also walk on the left (common sense, I know, but surprisingly difficult to remember, and it sure does feel strange).
- They have weird escalators in their malls: instead of steps, it's a slanted ramp that moves upward. No more steps needed!
- Not only do these form of escalators exist, but they are also not croc-friendly, for some unknown reason, as demonstrated by this large sign before you get on. (EDIT: Just researched this, and apparently the rubber material crocs are made out of have been known to get stuck and twisted on the escalator, seriously injuring people, so a heads up for all you croc wearers out there...)
- Groceries are ridiculously expensive, and nearly double the price for what you would pay in the US. This caused me great sadness as I stared longingly at the box of Tim Tams, which I ultimately passed on for next time.
- The buses drive very close to the curb and don't slow down, so standing too close to the edge of the street could end very unpleasantly for you.
Goodnight all, or rather, good morning to you, have a wonderful day!
